Since 1991, the sidewalks of Sacramento's Fremont Park would become canvases for children, amateur, and professional artists to draw upon during Labor Day weekend courtesy of the annual Chalk It Up Festival in Sacramento. People got creative with chalk and created sidewalk chalk art whether for personal creativity, bonding with friends & family, or as commissioned by their sponsors.
The Chalk It Up Festival is a rather unique experience in Sacramento to witness live chalk art created on the sidewalk, check out various musical acts, try out some food truck cuisine, and browse through local vendors. Finding some chalk and spare sidewalk space, you could pretty much get down and create your own chalk art. Or if you learn more about Sacramento businesses by checking out the artists they commissioned to create such art for Chalk It Up.
Chalk It Up proved to be a great time to meet fellow appreciators of chalk art whether rain or shine. And rain did hinder today's Chalk It Up as it likely washed away a few sidewalk tiles that didn't have the foresight to cover their art up last night.
Which of these works of sidewalk chalk art catches your eye?
