Cooking app SideChef lived its vision of channeling the inner cook in all of us at YouTube Space LA on August 21 as the app celebrated the launch of its latest iteration geared for iPhone. A crowd of more than 200 foodies gathered to sample epicurean delights from tasting stations hosted by some of SideChef’s hottest bloggers.

Chef Julie Yoon, What’s Amy Eating, The Curious Fig and Haute Mess Catering were in attendance along with sponsors Good Egg, Health Aid Kombucha, Golden Road Brewery and Fluff Ice.

The scene was kinetic as food lovers and tech geeks gathered together in the unique YouTube venue which features a large digital screen flashing images from the SideChef blog as attendees tweeted and Instagramed #YouTubeSpaceLA throughout the evening.

The event was an opportunity for aspiring cooks to learn about SideChef, a step-by-step cooking app designed to bring innovative technology to the world of cooking. By displaying detailed photography and written instructions for every step in a recipe, users can cook with confidence to prepare over 1,000 recipes from more than 100 food bloggers worldwide.

SideChef’s recipes cover diverse cuisines and cater to many special diets including gluten-free, vegan and low-fat. SideChef connects cooks of all levels based on their shared passion.

Launched in March 2014, SideChef is a Los Angeles-based company founded by Kevin Yu, video game industry veteran and former global manager for community development for World of Warcraft at Blizzard Entertainment.
