The first full-length trailer for director Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film Side Effects was released by iTunes Movie Trailers on Friday, Jan. 4. The thriller takes a deep look into the possible side effects of taking new medications. Side Effects follows a young woman who starts taking new pills for anxiety and the effect it has on those closest to her. The film will open in theaters on February 8, 2013.
The one minute long trailer gives almost no information about the story, except Emily (Rooney Mara) is a young woman living in New York, Jonathan Banks (Jude Law) is her psychiatrist, and Martin (Channing Tatum) is her boyfriend. The trailer opens by painting a pretty picture of the young couple in love, but Emily becomes depressed until her doctor prescribes a new drug. The problem is solved, or is it? Emily returns to her normal self, until someone is murdered. Several shots of limbs and blood splatter are shown and Emily is being held by police. The unexpected side effects of the drug Emily was taking become the key to figuring out what happened.
Additional cast members include Catherine Zeta-Jones and David Costabile. The pharmaceutical thriller will arrive in theaters on February 8, 2013. Check out the official website for more information.
