Sid E. Taylor, Founder and Chairman of Real Life 101 was recently chosen as one of the 2014 BMe Detroit Leaders. Taylor, is continuously making strives within his community by continuing his efforts to provide college scholarship, laptop computers and mentors to black males throughout the city of Detroit and beyond. We encourage you to attend the Real Life 101Scholarship Fund 7th Annual College Educational Fundraiser on Monday, August 25, 2014 at Fox Hills Golf & Banquet Center - 8768 N. Territorial Road Plymouth, MI 48170. Registration Begins at 8:00 AM Shotgun Start at 9:00 AM Dinner & Program at 3:00 PM.

The Real Life program is active in Michigan
(14 schools), Ohio (3 schools), Alabama
(2 schools), Maryland (2 schools),
Arkansas, DC, Illinois, Mississippi, North
Carolina and Wisconsin.
• Have over 160 students attending college
as part of our five (5) year commitment;
each student received a laptop computer
with MS Office software and a personal
• Have awarded over $1.5 million in actual
scholarship dollars.
• Have awarded over 1500 laptop computers
with MS Office software and a laptop bag
to inner city high school graduates in multiple
• Have over 250 certified mentors who
volunteer to support our students.
• Partnered with Eastern Michigan University
& Madonna University in 2011 to offer
additional scholarship funds to a select
group of Real Life recipients for a five (5)
year commitment.
• 53 Real Life students have completed their
college curricula.
• Value add of the program to date exceeds
$5 million dollars. This is due to the generous
support of our donors and board members
who volunteer their time to raise funds
for the Real Life 101 Scholarship program.
Mission Statement
The Real Life 101 Scholarship Fund and its
board of directors are committed to improving
the higher education of at risk inner
city youth. Our program provides funding,
laptop computers, mentoring and tracking
of our selected students.We will continue
to support and provide guidance to these
future leaders of tomorrow through our
collective commitment and resolve.
