Siblings of kids with special needs take the stage in upcoming theater workshop

Supersiblings and Shining Stars
is a one-day workshop to honor the brothers and sisters of children with special needs. Glitter and Razz Productions, in collaboration with Work-It-Out Learning, will offer this workshop on Saturday, October 22 from noon until 5:00. Children ages 4-11 are invited to come together for a day of expression and connection as they create an original play, which they'll perform for their families at the end of the workshop. The curriculum of this program is designed and facilitated by teachers who also have siblings with special needs.

Older siblings, ages 12-17, are encouraged to apply for an intern position. Please email chrissy@workitoutlearning for an application.

Glitter and Razz is committed to teaching and reinforcing social/emotional skills through theater. They strive to make all kids feel safe, heard, and respected and for them to have the skills to treat others in the same way. In addition to drama classes, they incorporate visual arts and creative movement into all their programs so that kids with a diversity of interests, personalities, and learning styles find their way into the group.

Work-It-Out Learning is a collective of teachers and therapists who specialize in developmentally-centered education, drama, and play therapy interventions for children and teens with autism and other developmental disorders. Teacher and Co-founder Christine D'Agostino says the upcoming sibling workshop is geared toward "celebrating the siblings and their individuality, who they are and the gifts they offer the world." If families are interested, the workshop may expand into an ongoing series in 2012.
