Smile, you’re on candid camera … creep. A Staten Island mother who suspected that her nanny was abusing her infant daughter had her worst fears confirmed. While she was out shopping, the mom left a video camera running clandestinely in the nursery.
When she played back the footage later, she had all the proof she needed to nail 52-year-old Mamura Nasirova, who was arrested on Sunday at the family’s home, the New York Post reports. According to court records, Nasirova fought with the arresting officers as they tried to handcuff her.
On the recording, the native of Uzbekistan can be seen striking and shaking the 5-month-old baby. At one point, the nanny feeds the child, then removes the bottle and starts smacking her in the face.
The family installed the hidden camera in a carbon monoxide detector after they grew concerned and suspicious about the infant’s well-being. The baby is reported to have suffered redness and swelling as a result of this most recent case of abuse.
Nasirova was charged on Monday with endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest, both misdemeanor charges. She is being held in jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
