Our young above-it-all president knows best. He will never compromise on the signature achievement of his presidency. He will let the government down permanently if the Republican-adults-in-the-room-House doesn't "save" us from him. Months will go by and eventually even Social Security checks won't go out. There will be chaos in the land.
I'm for it.
For millions of us, the chaos is now five+ years old. We the People re-hired the president of Food Stamp Nation anyway. It is clear that there is no chance to restore the economy for at least three more years, when an adult President could be elected. It is clear that if Obamacare is allowed to plant roots for 2-3 more years, it will become a permanent entitlement that will prevent America from ever being exceptional again.
America's only chance to be fixed is for more Americans to join those that are already part of the new poor-normal so that they can be motivated to fear more Democratic Party rule more than they do their current circumstance. Half of America can't be on welfare, disability or waiting tables part-time for the other half that are working full-time for government or its crony capitalist beneficiaries that can afford to eat out.
So, I was glad to see that Republican Speaker John Boehner finally got the message from GOP Senators Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Marco Rubio and other conservative tea partiers to throw down the gauntlet and condition passage of a budget (or continuing) resolution on de-funding Obamacare. I'll believe the non-tea partier GOP ruling class is serious in Month Eight of a government shutdown when President Barack Obama either takes a permanent Citizen-of-the-World golf vacation to Dubai or issues King Obama Reserve Notes in Year One of a new monarchy resembling the one that obtained before Lexington and Concord but sans a parliament.
Seriously, a man occupies the Oval Office now like no other. He will not compromise on this. He resemble a cool man on a ledge threatening to jump lest he get his way, in toto. Maybe a Democrat sweetheart named Harry, Nancy, Slow Joe or Blue Dawg Dem could talk him down, but I doubt it.
But Mike gamecock DeVine, knowing this and having the courage, that even the Senator from Canada/Texas hasn't yet mustered, to say it, how can you favor playing government shutdown-chicken with this Rebel president WITH a cause? Because, his liberal Big Government cause has already caused this great country to go over fiscal, foreign policy appeasement and government dependency cliffs from which we can recover only by hitting the bottom of the ravine now, while enough free market capitalists yearning to breathe free still exist to resuscitate it. That's why.
This country can't recover to any where near our previous exceptional standard of living level if we surrender to Obamacare-government control of our lives, Liberty and happiness pursuits for 2-3 more years. We can't gradually fix this within anyone's lifetime that has already avoided abortion and escaped the womb. And some of us aren't yet ready to just settle for homelessness, private charity or disability benefits and Obama-phones until China refuses to fund them or Bernanke's Fed inflation requires wheelbarrows to buy coffee at a gun-free Starbucks.
Yes, by all means go all Ted Cruz on Harry Reid and Obama's respective heads. Make the case daily against Obamacare. Make the case daily on the shared responsibility for funding the government via the Constitution's separation of powers. Listen not to Huffington Post, Politico and weenie-Beltway Republican sirens lest you crash on the rocks of socialism's shore.
The founders suffered great hardships and millions of Americans are suffering today and have been since the liberal Democrat-caused Housing Bubble burst (and we will revise and re-issue our column explaining that later this week). That enough Americans re-hired this disaster last November has concentrated the minds of tea partiers willing to call Obama's bluff. Here's hoping that Boehner, Cantor et al remain so willing after the Obama-don't-care deluge.
