OK. vegans, this review is most likely not for you.
We've been to Shula's Steak House at the Alexander Hotel on Collins Ave., Miami Beach and it's mostly very good. The décor is Sinatra Era. Unfortunately the MB City rules refrain Shula's from advertising on the avenue. So guests most often hear about the classic place by word of mouth. Go there for the experience and the elegance of the surroundings. Reservations recommended.
Now on the other hand Shula's 347 on Red Road at Sunset Place in South Miami is much more modern, edgy yet cozy and caters to a multitude of occasions including after work romantic drinks at the bar, a casual date encounter, a family get-together-fun evening or even a large dinner party event such as a birthday.
For starters the Jumbo Lump Crab cakes or Blackened Tenderloin Tips (both for $15 each), are practically a meal unto themselves. Burgers (all under $15), are made from their signature blend of premium Black Angus beef, Short rib and Brisket. Burgers are accompanied with a choice of French fries, side salad, smashed potatoes or seasonal vegetables. If you have a big appetite, Shula's offers an 8 oz. or 12 oz. Filet Mignon for $36/$46. They also serve a 16 oz./ 22 oz. Cowboy steak for $35/ $46.
Desserts include Key Lime pie or Dulce de Leche cheesecake. All desserts are $10 or under. We were delighted with the variety of food choices, the reasonable prices of the menu items and the beverages. They have several flat screen TV's that are tuned to an assortment of sports shows. There's a good wait staff that is anxious to please and frankly our meals there were very enjoyable. Details: 305. 665.9661.
