Shroud of the Avatar: Two Days Left On Kickstarter

Actually, technically, Richard Garriott's Shroud of the Avatar has a few hours less than two days left in its Kickstarter campaign, and I'm told that the good folks at Portalarium will be on hand for the final 24 hours of the campaign. Kudos to them...and also my sympathies.

As of this writing, Shroud of the Avatar had -- between Kickstarter and the other payment options at its official website -- raised over $1.5 million. Which, according to Portalarium's defined stretch goals for the game, means that the game's world will now double in size, and we'll see the introduction of some different biomes to its terrain. And Noah "Spoony" Antwiler will apparently do an interview with Richard Garriott.

Portalarium, for their part, have added a couple of additional reward tiers and announced some additional rewards for extant tiers, so do be sure to check those out if you're curious about supporting the game but have been holding off on doing so.

Sadly, it looks like some of the higher-end stretch goals that Portalarium set out -- including the Tracy Hickman Shroud of the Avatar novel ($1.8 million) -- won't be reached. That said, the campaign has picked up some momentum in recent hours, so it's possible that its $1.6 million stretch goal (a new island in the game, plus boat-based transportation options) will be achieved before time runs out.

At least, that's my hope. Because really, who doesn't want more areas to explore, and different means of reaching same?
