Charlotte, NC - Pioneers of sound, Shpongle will be casting psychedelic states of mind at Neighborhood Theatre on Tuesday, April 17th. General admission tickets are $22 in advance and $24 day of show. VIP tickets are available for $37 online only. VIP includes reserved seating, a server and the ability to run a tab as well as one special edition laminate that is yours to keep. Doors open at 9PM and the show begins with Phutureprimitive at 9:30PM.

A music project formed in 1996, Shpongle is more than qualified for the exploration into the unclassifiable musical frontiers they have explored. With over 80 years of experience collectively between members Simon Posford and Raja Ram, the duo has created a new world out of traditional sounds, acoustic guitars, Moroccan drums, Turkish operatic singing, cello, double bass, backing vocals and silver flute, all blended together with the computer wizardry of Posford’s studio production. Straight from Raja Ram, Shpongle has been said to be an “umbrella term for feeling positive and euphoric emotions”. Their music is heavily influenced by psychedelic experiences and frequently makes use of sonic textures that approximate psychedelic states as well as vocal samples relating to consciousness expansion, hallucinations and altered states of awareness. Shpongle has released an album and is waiting on the forthcoming release of their second, Tales of the Inexpressible which further explores their love for diverse sound.

Accompanying Shpongle is musical force, Phutureprimitive whose music is singular and unique in its approach: Lush melodies drift across intricate rhythms, groove heavy beats and warm, fuzzy bass lines. Often exploring a dark and dense palette, his music also manages to convey a sense of tranquility and beauty, engaging the listener into hypnotic movement and often escalating toward a full kinetic experience. Shimmering with cinematic qualities, his music ultimately speaks to both the mind and the body.
