Showtime is set to televise the concert "Another Day, Another Time: Celebrating the Music of 'Inside Llewyn Davis,'" on Dec. 13, 2013 at 9 p.m. EST. Showtime made the announcement on Sept. 25, 2013. The concert takes place at Town Hall in New York City on Sept. 29, 2013.
Written and directed by Oscar-winning brothers Ethan and Joel Coen, "Inside Llewyn Davis" follows a week in the life of a young folk singer named Llewyn Davis (played by Oscar Isaac) as he navigates New York's Greenwich Village folk scene in 1961. The movie's co-stars include Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman and Garret Hedlund. The Coen brothers also produced the movie with Scott Rudin.
"Inside Llewyn Davis" (distributed by CBS Films) arrives in limited release in U.S. and Canadian cinemas on Dec. 6, 2013, before expanding to more theaters on Dec. 20, 2013.
The "Inside Llewyn Davis" soundtrack (produced by T Bone Burnett) is set for release on Nonesuch Records on Nov. 12, 2013. The movie's co-stars Isaac, Mulligan, Timberlake and Stark Sands perform original songs on the soundtrack, which includes Marcus Mumford (who is Mulligan's husband in real life), Nancy Blake, Dave Von Ronk and a previously unreleased studio version of Bob Dylan's "Farewell."
The "Inside Llewyn Davis" concert will feature live performances of "Inside Llewyn Davis" music, as well as songs from the early 1960s that inspired the film. A portion of the proceeds from the concert will benefit the National Recording Preservation Foundation
According to Showtime: "Artists performing at the concert include the Avett Brothers, Joan Baez, Rhiannon Giddens of Carolina Chocolate Drops, Lake Street Dive, Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, The Milk Carton Kids, Keb’ Mo’, Mumford, Bob Neuwirth, Conor Oberst, Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine, the Secret Sisters, Patti Smith, Gillian Welch, Willie Watson and Jack White. Stars of the film will also perform at the event, including Isaac, Mulligan, Goodman, Adam Driver and Stark Sands. In addition to extensive concert footage, the documentary will feature behind-the-scenes material from the feature film, including rehearsals, and interviews with the filmmakers and cast."
Showtime and CBS Films are both owned by Viacom.
"Inside Llewyn Davis" had its world premiere at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, where it won earned the Grand Prix prize. "Inside Llewyn Davis" is also screening at these festivals in 2013: Telluride Flm Festival, New York Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival, Austin Film Festival, São Paulo International Film Festival and Chicago International Film Festival.
