Much cooler air is filtering into West Michigan behind a cold front. This front should hang just to the south and east of the state for Wednesday and Thursday. Waves of energy will slide along the front with the heaviest rain for the southeast part of the state. The Storm Prediction Center has the Slight Risk for severe weather to the south and east of Michigan for Wednesday. Heavy rain showers are possible across West Michigan on Wednesday night with more rises on area rivers.
As cold air settles into the state behind the front, frost is possible for Friday and Saturday morning, mainly north and northeast of Grand Rapids. Be prepared to bring in the tender plants or cover them from the cold.
The cold will not last long as temperatures return to near normal readings over the next couple of weeks.
See the slideshow at the top of the page for more on the rain and cold air.
