Low pressure will continue to deepen across the Great Lakes today, dragging a strong cold front eastward across Ohio this afternoon. One batch of rain will move across the area this morning, followed by some filtered sunshine through early this afternoon.

Temperatures ahead of the cold front will warm into the 60s this afternoon. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to redevelop as the front approaches this afternoon. A few of the storms could be strong.

The cold front will move east of the area tonight, and showers and storms this evening will gradually taper to a few scattered rain and snow showers overnight. An upper level trough will swing eastward across the region later tonight and Saturday, bringing colder temperatures and scattered rain and snow showers.

High pressure will build across the area Saturday night and Sunday, with fair weather returning to the state.

Here is the forecast: For today, mostly cloudy, breezy and mild with showers and thunderstorms likely. A few storms could be strong with gusty winds and hail possible. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Winds SE 10-20 mph.

Extended Analysis: Low pressure will take shape across the deep south Sunday night, then intensify as it moves northeastward through the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys Monday, and into the eastern Great Lakes on Tuesday.

Rain will spread northward across the region late Sunday night, then continue across the area Monday through Tuesday.

Models have trended a bit further west and warmer with this system through Tuesday, so precipitation should be all rain.

By Tuesday night, the system will be northeast of the area, and colder air will be pulled southward across Ohio in its wake. Rain could change to snow before ending Tuesday night.

Wednesday will feature partly to mostly cloudy skies and cool temperatures.

Here is the extended forecast: Sunday night, increasing clouds with lows in the mid 30s.
