Showdown in Motown will celebrate 25 years in 2012

The 2012 Showdown in Motown annual AAA Tournament is scheduled this year from April 27th - April 29th 2012.

The Detroit Area's Premier AAA and Select Team Youth Hockey Tournament is one of several youth hockey events that helps figure team rosters for the fall season. The Showdown has been operating for 25 years and continues to present the highest level of competition from Mites to Midgets.

Every spring this tournament brings teams from all over North America to compete with many scouts are in attendance at this tournament.

Teams made up of youth players trying out for the TPH Thunder squad will also compete at the tournament.

The Motown tournament has also been a proving ground for players selected to participate in the AAA One Hockey tournament which brings AAA talent from all parts of the world including Russia, Sweden and Czechoslovakia.

The 2012 Showdown In Motown General Rules include: All teams will play 3-16 minute periods (Except U16& Midget Major 15 squads. There will be no checking in 2004 ,2003 , 2002 , 2001 , 2000 age groups.

Tie Breakers will include: total points, head to head, plus/minus of all games, least amount of goals in all games, most goals in a game and a coin flip.

The Semi-Finals & Finals will include five minute overtime.

If teams are still tied a five-man shootout will be done simultaneously. If no winner is determined 5 new shooters will vie until a winner is determined. Each team must use all players before a previous participant can be used again.

All games will last 1.5 hours, individual trophy's and team trophy's for the winners and runner-ups in each division will be awarded and each team is guaranteed 4 games
