Saturdays are inherently good days. With it being a key day of the weekend along with a key day of programming for multiple community based organizations, the last day of the week can be a good day.
This coming Saturday, September 21st, the day gets a little sweeter. The Show-Me-Shoes Foundation is a major reason why.
As part of their kickoff and celebration for their 3 year anniversary of programming in both Atlanta and Kansas City, the nonprofit is hosting its annual shoe drive. The event takes place from 2-6pm at My Fair Sweets in the Berkley Heights Retail Plaza.
Patrons are asked to bring new and slightly worn shoes for the Saturday event.
As part of their programming, Show-Me-Shoes provides young women (middle, high school, and post-high school) in both metropolitan areas opportunities for professional and personal growth and development via an array of programming. Through their mentoring, leadership, and networking based services, women are provided a platform for encouragement and inspiration for their holistic development.
Through the donations collected on Saturday, the foundation is helping support shelters supported by Saving Our Daughters. Likewise, as a way of showing their appreciation, each patron is receiving a 10% discount off their purchases at My Fair Sweets (only valid for September 21st).
Supporting and encouraging young people in the immediate and surrounding communities is already a good thing. Adding to the good feeling anyone has when they know they are reaching back and supporting others is getting a discount on feeding one's "sweet tooth".
That sounds sweet!
