Horses have come under scrutiny in Central Park by some, and the mayor of New York City even wants to ban the iconic carriage horses despite the benefit they have in New York City tourism. It may be a bit ironic then that beginning on September 18, 2014 at 6;30 p.m, show horses will be seen in the park until September 21. The theme will be "Chronicle of the Horse".
The Central Park Horse Show presented by Rolex will be the first of its kind since the last horse show was held in Madison Square Garden in 2001. It is a four day, outdoor event that will have some of the best jumpers and riders in the world with events such as The Central Park Grand Prix, a celebrity charity equestrian event, an arena polo event, and a dressage event. Throughout the entire time span of the event, there will be exhibitions all about horses, the different breeds, and how they have contributed so much to the history and culture of people.
Of course there is a catch. Tickets are limited. Depending on the event, they will range from $30 all the way up to $250. There will also be VIP tickets for groups. Tickets will go on sale Monday August 4, 2014. But if unable to purchase tickets for any reason, there will be some of the horse show live on television. If this year's event goes well, there could be more events planned annually.
