After Shout Factory, the leading provider of many memorable cult movie classics launched its newest series under Scream Factory they have been churning out the classics. The latest to be delivered to Blu-ray for the first time will include 1985’s LIFEFORCE as well as 1970’s The Vampire Lovers.
LIFEFORCE follows a mission to investigate Halley’s Comet that turns into more than they expected as they encounter a deadly alien spacecraft. After the leader begins a terrifying campaign to drain the lifeforce of everyone the lone survivor of the mission sets out to destroy her, but comes face to face with the most horrifying charming being he’s ever known. The film was directed by Texas Chainsaw Massacre director Tobe Hopper and features visual effects by John Dykstra who won the 1977 Best Visual Effects for Star Wars.
The Vampire Lovers follows a group of men following a bloody trail through the countryside in search of a female vampire with lesbian tendencies as she ravages young girls and townsfolk in eighteenth century Europe. This Hammer Films classic was directed by Roy Ward Baker and features the legendary Peter Cushing.
Both of these releases contain all kinds of special features including commentaries, featurettes, and more. These will surely be must have for any horror hound’s collection. So don’t miss out when these two classic films hit Blu-ray and DVD for the first time on April 30, 2013.
