For a while now Shout Factory’s horror brand Scream Factory has been churning out the classics, but that’s not all there are bringing home. Their latest Dead Souls was actually a film ran on Chiller TV, but now they are bringing it to Blu-ray and DVD in a special unrated edition featuring seven minutes of footage not seen in its run on Chiller.
Dead Souls follows a young man who inherits a farm in Maine on his 18th birthday and learns that he is adopted after his family was killed at the hands of his preacher father. Eager to start a new life, he leaves home to move into the new house, but soon uncovers the horrifying details of his father’s teachings. As if that was enough to deal with, his return has revived a decades-old force trapped within the house and a ritual that already claimed his family.
The film stars Jesse James (The Amityville Horror, The Flyboys), Bill Moseley (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Devil's Rejects, House of 1,000 Corpses), Magda Apanowicz (The Butterfly Effect), Noah Fleiss (Brick), Jaiden Kaine (Hellbenders) and Geraldine Hughes (Rocky Balboa, Gran Torino).
This must have release sports numerous special features including commentaries, bloopers, TV spots and a tour of the set.
