Shout Factory brings Captain America to Blu-ray

With all the hype of super hero films it was only a matter of time that some of the old school ones would start popping their heads up and Shout Factory is leading the charge. For years Captain America struggled to get a truly good film off the ground. Beyond the TV films and the successful big studio film, there was another that seemingly got dumped on video with 1990’s aptly titled Captain America.

The film followed Steve Rogers, the super soldier created by the government to become Captain America to help the Allied forces fight for freedom during World War II. After being frozen in ice after a battle with the Red Skull he was thought to be lost. Decades later his body is found and revived forcing Rogers to once again become Captain America help save the President of the United States from the Red Skull once and for all.

The film starred Matt Salinger, Ronny Cox, Ned Beatty, Darren McGavin, Michael Nouri, Melinda Dillon, Kim Gillingham, and Scott Paulin.

Now thanks to Shout Factory they are releasing the Captain America collector’s Edition on Blu-ray for the first time on May 21, 2013. This edition not only sports the film in high definition but a brand new interview with director Albert Pyun and actor Matt Salinger that is sure to be an interesting look at a film that has been a cult classic.
