AT&T has reduced its price on refurb iPhone 3G smartphones to $99 for the 16GB model and a low $49 for the 8GB model. But is this really a good deal?
Consider this: You will pay almost $1,700 in voice and data charges for the most basic iPhone plan for the two year contract. So, really, you are paying $1749 for that 8GB iPhone 3G when you could have paid less than 10% more ($1900) for a 16GB iPhone 3GS.
I simply cannot recommend either refurbished iPhone 3G smartphones or reduced-price 3G phones. It's a far better deal to just plop down the extra Benjamin and get the better phone, otherwise you might be sitting around a year from now viewing some of the 3GS-only apps and wishing you'd have gotten the better model.

Don't you mean that you "simply CANNOT recommend"?
Good point. I chased down the word and returned it to its proper spot. ;)
