Should teachers be armed?

Currently, in the greater Cincinnati area questions are being asked about school security and the best way to keep schools safe. One of the answers to that question has been to arm public school teachers in case of a situation that warrants their intervention. Some say this is in the best interest of protecting children and other staff members; however, others see this as an unnecessary risk. Arming teachers in Tri-State schools has become a hotly contested debate with knowledgeable people on both sides of the issue. News.cincinnati.com currently has an article dedicated to the issue posted to its website. Click the link at the bottom of this article to read more about it.

Isaiah 31:5 states, “Like birds hovering, so the LORD of hosts will protect Jerusalem; he will protect and deliver it; he will spare and rescue it.” God was faithful to protect his people from danger, and is still faithful today to “protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7). God is always taking care to provide for his people, to protect them and deliver them from harm.

As residents of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Christians have concerns about their safety and that of their children. While Christians in the greater Cincinnati area should take necessary steps to ensure that safety, Cincinnati Christians must remember to trust God to constantly watch over his people. In Isaiah 26:3, the prophet said with confidence in God, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” The Lord cares for his people and watches over them to ensure their peace and safety. Cincinnati Christians need to trust him to protect them and take practical measures to be as safe as possible at all times.
