People have a tendency to follow the crowd at work because of the fear of retaliation; meaning losing a job, losing statues, and of course losing money is a fear instilled into the hearts and minds to the CEO’s from his/her employees from the first day the job has begun; especially now-a-days.
The fear of losing a job is one of the worst feelings/fears in the world, because if one losses a job; then one might lose their entire family. Marriages can be torn apart, health problems may arise, and if one has children; of course they will also suffer from stress or depression depending on the circumstance.
It is wise to keep with ones’ principles of ethical conduct, because as the old adage goes, ‘one can never do wrong by doing right,’ is just a principle; not a fact. There have been many business men and women alike who are very ethical, however when push came to shove; some caved in and went with the so-called status-quo because they have family members at home.
These days it is hard not to be a whistle-blower, but it is harder to keep quiet. So what is the answer to this ethical dilemma? The answer is different within each individual person, and the advice is, ask, “Where is and where does the personal ethical line cross?" Once the personal ethical line is crossed; then try to both fix it ethically and with peace, or leave, however try very hard not to leave until another position/job is in place.
Who knows maybe there is an alternative view worth looking into? Alternative views can be as such; opening a new business, writing that bestselling novel, or fostering children, but as stated; try not to leave a position until everything is lined up properly. Many people are looking at alternative ideas, so why not give something else perhaps you have not tried; a try.
