At one point in time, AJ Styles was the face of TNA and the star that would carry the company into the future. Unfortunately, over the last few years, that star has dimmed and he hasn't even been on television for the last few months, except for a brief 30 second appearance last month. AJ's extended absence from the spotlight has many fans thinking that Styles should bolt from TNA and head to the WWE. You can count legendary wrestler Bret Hart as someone who thinks so too. According to a March 3rd report by WrestlingInc.com, Bret Hart made the following comments about AJ Styles in a shoot interview with Wrestle Talk TV:
"He's spinning his tires in TNA. If he really wants to make it as the star that he is, he needs to jump the bush league and get to the big time... There's a lot of talent out there that miss their opportunities, and I just hope that AJ Styles doesn't waste his life in TNA."
I've been a fan of AJ Styles' in-ring work since his days in ROH. He's as talented as they come inside the ring. For many years, he was the biggest reason I watched TNA, along with a few other stars. However, TNA has completely ruined AJ's character ever since Hogan and Bischoff came on board. In fact, they did the same thing to Samoa Joe and others.
I do give credit to TNA for turning things around, as their creative direction is much more entertaining right now than the WWE. This is largely due to 4 men: Austin Aries, Robert Roode, Kaz and Christopher Daniels. AJ Styles is definitely among these men as the best in the company. Unfortunately, TNA has lost creative vision with hime.
It's time for AJ to move on to the larger stage and show the world what he's made of. Bret Hart is correct in his assessment of Styles. As of right now, he is wasting his life in TNA.
