This Saturday, May 24th 2014, marks the fourth envisioning and presentation of the Short Shorts with Short Leash Film Festival in downtown Phoenix. Held at the Medlock Plaza behind Stinkweeds Records, the Short Shorts film festival has consistently welcomed summertime cinema by providing an excellent selection of free films screened in a very casual outdoor venue. The films selected for this year’s Short Shorts with Short Leash film festival will present a sampling of what is going on in the Phoenix art, music and film scene, including music videos by local recording artists. Among the films being screened: “Paint Life Beautiful,” a documentary about Phoenix graffiti artist Joseph ‘Sentrock’ Perez, the animated short film “Beezleborb” directed by Ryne Gessell and “Re-writes” a comedy by ASU student filmmakers and directed by Jay Davis. Several other films ranging from screwball comedies to serious narratives will also screen. The trailer for the upcoming, all Arizona feature length action film “Sam: The semi-truck driving Samurai man” directed by Ryan Johnston will be shown, and the trailer for “The Farmer and the Stork” will screen as well. The event is FREE and open to all ages.

The Short Shorts with Short Leash film festival gets underway at 6 pm with music provided by Korbe Canida. The films will begin just as it starts getting dark. Of course Short Leash Hot Dogs will be on hand serving up their famous fare. Parking is extremely limited at the Medlock Plaza, but there is plenty of suitable parking very close to the event. While some seating is provided, it is recommended that everyone bring their favorite lawn chair with them. Come out to Medlock Plaza this Saturday night at 6 pm and start another great summer of local cinema, as Short Shorts with Short Leash returns with another terrific lineup of free films.
