Short-handed Quakes hold on to 2-1 win over FC Dallas

The San Jose Earthquakes held on to win 2-1 against the FC Dallas on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Midfielder Shea Salinas was red-carded in the 45th minute just before the halftime whistle blew leaving the Earthquakes with 10 men left for the rest of the game.

Cordell Cato put the Earthquakes ahead with his goal in the 25th minute. The Quakes had plenty of scoring chances but could not convert. With a man down, FC Dallas press for the equalizer but Goaltender Jon Busch was equal to the task in denying FC Dallas with a goal. San Jose caught a break in the 73rd minute with an own goal against Dallas to give the home team a 2-0 advantage. FC Dallas Midfielder Michel did convert a free kick in the 76th minute, but the Quakes managed to hang on for the victory.

The Quakes improve to 2-3-4 record for the season a three-game unbeaten streak at home. They will travel to Seattle on Saturday, May 17, 2014 and then host the Houston Dynamos on Saturday, May 25, 2014.
