In 2008, The Mustard Seed Boutique was spoken into existence. In 2009, a building was donated to make the inspirational vision a reality. The premise of the boutique was to provide funds for the efforts of preventing and intervening in cases of domestic violence and provide financial support for Domestic Violence programs provided by Living Legacy, Inc. In addition to funding efforts in eliminating domestic violence, the boutique also provides clothing and household items to community members in need.
Since it’s creation, The Mustard Seed Boutique has provided a bright and welcoming light within the area of its location. What you can expect to find within the boutique are new and vintage items, a variety of consignment and thrift items and one of a kind handbags and jewelry. You can also find a line of natural hair care products by Ella and Eva, whose proceeds go toward prevention programs for teen dating and domestic violence, as well as the Lotion Candle. The Lotion Candle is a soy-based candle that serves as a scented candle as well as a natural oil that is safe for your skin. The Mustard Seed Boutique launched their signature lines at the 2010 Sisterhood Showcase at the Cook Convention Center and received an overwhelmingly positive response and acquired a listing of loyal customers. Another of the great aspects of the boutique is their willingness to provide a forum for minority designers and artists to place their items on display for the community, providing more opportunities to give back to the community.
