Throughout the ages home music was very important. Ads in the Lafayette newspapers from the 1800’s tout pianos, guitars and other instruments. Whether at the campsite or in the front room, acoustic, percussion or keyboard, there is a place for homemade music. Lafayette area folks are fortunate that we still have locally owned music stores. Saturday, Nov. 30 is Shop Small day, but why wait? Every day is shop small, local dealers day.
Don’s Guitars. The new kid on the block, Don’s has opened recently. The store is on Farabee between the SR 26 Pizza Hut and Eastside 9 Theater. Don Leuck, the owner, has worked, and played in the Lafayette music community for over 4 decades. He has both electric and acoustic guitars, as well as other stock. Klaverenga’s Guitar and Piano Studio, Inc. Located downtown on Main Street between 5th and 6th, sales, service and instructions are available through Klavarenga’s. Pick up an instrument or learn to play one you have. Store (link)
Northside Music. For half a century, Northside Music has rebuilt and repaired pianos and organs. They have new and rebuilt pianos and organs for sale. Not sure you want to buy? They have a rental program. Store (link)
McGuire Music and Sound. A staple in the Lafayette area, McGuire’s sells new and used fretted instruments and drums. They also sell amps, monitors and other electronics. They offer lessons as well. Store (link).
