Shop cool stuff and support hardworking boxer rescue at yard sale on Saturday

If you’ve ever watched Antiques Roadshow, you know that rummage sales offer great opportunities to pick up hidden treasures.  And if you’ve ever adopted a dog, you know that through rescue organizations you can find other hidden treasures—of the four-footed variety.

Put those two types of treasures together and you’ve got a fun event to keep you, friends, and family entertained this Saturday.

Shop great, gently used items donated from all over the county at a huge yard sale benefiting the SoCal Boxer Rescue Project, a hardworking, in-the-trenches group that helps, fosters, and re-homes boxers throughout southern California.

“Yard sales are an easy way to make quick money with not a lot of investment,” said organizer Audrey Cox-Ricks, “but they also give others in the community a chance to help with saving boxers.”

“Most people can't help with fostering or adoption or even transport,” Cox-Ricks continued, “but they always have a bag of stuff they can donate to help raise money.”

Cox-Ricks said that depending on how warm the day turns out to be, there will probably be one or two boxers available to meet prospective adopters.

Read an interview with Audrey Cox-Ricks about “hilarious” boxer personalities, what you need to know before you adopt, and the critical need for more adopters to take in this remarkable breed that is so popular here in southern California—and therefore often ends up in shelters.
