Shooting victim refuses to give police further information on incident

Police are investigating a Monday morning shooting outside the Hermitage Apartments, according to a Monday afternoon news release from the Jackson Police Department. The victim refused to give police additional details about the shooting.

Police said around 11:10 a.m., officers were called about shots being fired outside the Hermitage Apartments, which are located at 189 Old Hickory Blvd. When officers arrived at the scene, they could not find a gunshot victim.

The release said officers were called to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital about 20 minutes later after a gunshot victim arrived by private vehicle.

Police said the victim, a 20-year-old Jackson man, had a gunshot wound to the calf. He confirmed to them that he had been shot outside the apartment complex, which he did not live at. He declined to give investigators any additional information .

The release said the man was expected to be treated and released from the hospital.
