Shooting the West is a unique Nevada photography event, held just down the road from Reno in Winnemucca (about 160 miles east of Reno on I80). Shooting the West XXVI will be from March 4 through March 9, 2014. Headquarters for the event is the Winnemucca Convention Center, 50 W. Winnemucca Boulevard.

Shooting the West has something for every level of photo enthusiast, from rank amateur through seasoned pro. There will be workshops, exhibits, entertainment, vendors, field trips, and chances for attendees to participate and learn how to improve their photography. Here it is in a nutshell, from the Shooting the West website... "Shooting the West is a photography symposium with distinguished presenters in many different photographic fields. Throw in workshops, participant shows, juried contests, vendors like Manfrotto and Canon, portfolio reviews, great Basque food and lots of Winnemucca style fun… and you have a pretty good idea what it’s all about."

For more information, call (877) 623-3501. Learn even more about the area from the Winnemucca Convention & Visitors Authority.

Winnemucca is a worthy destination if you are looking for some beautiful Nevada scenery to photograph. There are mountains both north and south of town and numerous good roads leading to seldom visited places in Nevada's vast outback.
