According to the Denver Post on Aug. 16, a shooting has occurred in Denver on South Irving Street around 10:40 a.m. The latest update from the Post's Twitter account indicates that police are currently working with several explosive devices— made of propane tanks rigged to gunpowder—as well as a hand grenade.
The suspect apparently intended to shoot one of the explosives when he was approached by police earlier this morning.
Around noon, The Huffington Post writes, residents were asked to stay in their homes while the bomb squad began to investigate the devices left by the suspect. The suspect was apprehended, as the police scanner indicated when officers stated "party's down, party's down."
He is currently being treated for wounds to the shoulder and chest. He is in critical condition at Denver Medical Health Center.
As well as setting up the propane tanks with the intent to apparently cause harm, the suspect also shot two women. One woman was shot in the leg in her home, the other was found in a separate home, dead.
Homicide detectives have been called to the scene.
