Update: Daytona Beach Police said 21-year old Quordre K. Wiley passed away at Halifax Hospital at 10:18 Friday night, and that 25-year old Deandre L. Peterson would be charged with Second Degree Murder.

Original article:

Daytona Beach Police say they took a suspect into custody after a shooting Friday afternoon that left 21-year old Quordre K. Wiley in critical condition afterwards at Halifax Hospital. Police say Wiley and 25-year old Deandre L. Peterson were “…involved in a physical altercation…” in the 800 block of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard, reportedly near Garden Street, around 3:20 Friday afternoon. A report on the Daytona Beach Police website says, “Peterson [produced] a firearm and shot Wiley once in the chest.”

Police: Woman shot was “innocent victim.”

Police say the bullet also, “…exited Wiley and struck [a female bystander] in the leg.” However, the wound to 35-year old Sahneta L. Malcolm did not cause life-threatening injuries. Daytona Beach Police report they did locate one shell casing at the shooting scene, and a bystander found the gun. They say Peterson was found later in the 200 block of College Park and taken into custody. Police said Wiley was in critical condition Friday afternoon at Halifax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, and that Peterson was expected to be charged with Attempted Murder in the case.

Shooting may be related to incident Monday

Daytona Beach Police say their initial investigation indicates that the shooting Friday may be related to an incident Monday in which Peterson was a passenger in a car that pursued Wiley as he was driving on Hawk Street. Daytona Beach Police say they have a warrant for 23-year old Justin R. Williams on Aggravated Assault charges in that case. Williams is said to have been the driver who allegedly shot at Wiley’s car Monday.
