On Jan 22, University of Oklahoma officials said a shooting on the Norman campus occurred. According to its Internet site, the educational facility is not confirming this, but is asking everyone on campus to avoid the dorm called Gould Hall,.
Following is the official alert from OU as this drama unfolded:
"11:24AM: Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place.
11:39AM: No new information at this time. Remain sheltered in place.
11:45AM: No new information at this time. Remain sheltered in place.
"12:05PM: As of this time, no evidence has been found of any shots being fired. There are no injuries reported at this time. Both the Norman and OU police department have very quickly responded as well as emergency personnel. President Boren is at the scene. Normal campus operations have resumed except for Gould Hall where additional checking is continuing."
Intitially, local television also reported that shots were fired at Gould Hall, saying law enforcement was on the scene. Now, as the story of a reported University of Oklahoma shooting unfolds, this shooting may have been a false alarm but details of this possible event are still unfolding, an event that if true happened a day after a shooting at Purdue University.
