Some criminals shouldn’t operate motor vehicles, lest they run the risk of being arrested while on the lam. Yesterday (Sun., Feb. 26,) Bradford Steven Holup (49) a resident of Baltimore City, was arrested by Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD) officers while he had his escape vehicle pulled over to the side of the road at an intersection in Towson, MD. Police matched his description to a burglary, shooting, and attempted murder that had just occurred in Towson, and arrested Holup on the spot.
Background: BCPD and fire personnel responded to the 500-block of Allegheny Avenue in Towson around 1:30 a.m. on February 26. According to the BCPD, the 65-year-old resident of that residence reported that he had arrived home to discover a burglar inside his home.
The suspect made the victim walk into the basement and the victim was shot on the stairwell as he entered the basement.
Holup ran from the home and the victim was able to call 911. He tried to steal the victim's car, but was unable to do so because the car was equipped with an anti-theft device.
At approximately 4 a.m., an officer observed a Chevy Lumina pulled over to the side of the road near the intersection of Bosley Avenue and Chesapeake Avenue. The officer observed someone matching the suspect description run from between several buildings and enter the vehicle, which then pulled away. A traffic stop was conducted and the suspect, who was found to have some of the victim's property, was placed under arrest. ~BCPD
Bradford Steven Holup was charged with attempted murder, first degree assault and first degree burglary, and is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
The shooting victim is expected to make a full recovery.
