The video shows Beyonce, Jay Z, Solange, and a bodyguard enter an elevator leaving the Met Gala after party on May 5. As Jay Z enters the elevator Solange jumps in Jay Z’s face and is clearly very upset. Words between the two are exchanged before Solange begins to kick and punch the rapper as he tries to block her.

The bodyguard (it is unclear which star employs him) restrains Solange while stopping the elevator seemingly to prevent the public from witnessing the altercation. The video shows Solange attempt a second a third time to kick her brother-in law as Beyonce watches without interfering.

During one of the singers attempts to strike the rapper he grabbed her foot to prevent her from kicking him but never tried to hit her or fight back. Although violence should never be the answer this altercation is a great example of how a man should handle an irate woman; protect himself without physically attacking her.

When the 27-year-old singer made her last attempt to strike Jay Z, Beyonce then stood between the two seemingly to prevent any further violence. The trio along with the bodyguard exited the building together, Solange leading the group clearly upset. Solange and Beyonce left the event in one car together as the bodyguard led Jay Z to another.

The Met Gala is an annual fundraising ball for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute. This year’s cost for attendees not officially invited was $25,000. The after party was held at the Standard Hotel in NYC.

It is unclear what caused Solange to lash out the way she did and since there is no audio along with the video we are left with our own assumptions. Whatever the case may be I hope this family can work out their issues.
