Shocking new poll details Republican stances on issues and facts (Part 6)

There are a few other questions in this poll, which you can read in any of the several links to it throughout this article. The answers given were not really any less head-shaking in nature, they're simply more expected, given the audience. The questions and answers described here defy description and proper context.

People should have different views and different positions on policy issues. That's not only expected, but should be encouraged whenever possible. It makes the political discourse, and in a broader sense, our general knowledge richer as a result.

However, the answers to these questions go far beyond a “different point of view”. They stare facts in the eye and spit on them. They say the sky is green when it is actually blue. They have, to use a metaphor, “gone through the looking glass”.

What possible reasons could there be for this blatant disregard for fact, this fantasy? The most obvious would be the politics of fear, which, as stated previously, have become domain of this new Republican party. These “self-described” Republicans have bought into it so heavily, that they truly believe only Republicans can “keep them safe”. This despite, of course, the largest single loss-of-life event on this country's soil since the Civil War occurred under exclusively Republican leadership in the federal government.

There are many other kinds of fear which could be discussed here as well. Fear of those who are different from one's self, fear of modernization, and maybe most damning of all; fear of change. One thing is for certain, however.

There has to be a way for everyone (at least, almost everyone) to accept fact as fact. Fact is immutable, and should be recognized as such. There is no “wiggle room” in a fact. Facts can be “spun” and “interpreted”, but when all is said and done, the fact remains on its own as just that, fact.

Republicans are supposed to be known as the party of “common sense”, yet there is little, if any, to be found when it comes to basic issues and foundations. Here's hoping that sensible Republicans do still exist, and are able to get the facts, the truth, out to their membership. Hopefully, this can happen before more “scared” votes are cast, words spoken, or actions taken; in lieu of fact.

We all love our country. We are all Americans. We're supposed to think differently. Simple facts, however, can't be ignored. Once that starts, the door opens for everyone's worst fears to be realized; and it's far worse than a party other than yours being in power.
