Christina Milian fans were shocked when the pop star was voted off of “Dancing With the Stars” last week. This Monday, DWTS viewers witnessed the first perfect score of Season 17, which was awarded to Elizabeth Berkley Lauren and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, and yet another shocking elimination.
The halfway point of the “Dancing With the Stars” competition pitted the contestants with a live, all-new group, switch-up challenge, where the celebrities had to improvise a routine. Four couples danced at same time with a random change of music. The stars were judged on their time keeping of the music, interpretation of the music and ability to adapt to changes, however, the celebrities would not know the music beforehand and could not rehearse.
Before the group dance, of the eight remaining couples, Elizabeth and Val topped the leader board with a perfect 30, and Bill and Emma landed in last with a 23, who were surprisingly joined by Corbin and Karina, until the switch up group dance.
The competition is tight, as can be seen from the following DWTS scores The switch up challenge moved Amber and Derek to the top, tied with Elizabeth and Val.
- Elizabeth and Val Cha Cha Cha: 30 (first of the season) + 2 (Group Challenge) 32
- Amber and Derek Samba: 28 + 4 (Group Challenge) 32
- Brant and Peta Tango: 28 +3 (Group Challenge) 31
- Nicole (Snooki) and Sasha Fox Trot: 27 + 3 (Group Challenge) 30
- Leah and Tony Quick Step: 27 + 1 (Group Challenge) 28
- Jack and Cheryl Paso Doble: 25 + 2 (Group Challenge) 27
- Corbin and Karina Viennese Waltz: 23 +4 (Group Challenge) 27
- Bill and Emma Tango to “Cheeseburger in Paradise”: 23 +1 (Group Challenge) 24
Before the stressful DWTS group dance, Mika featuring Ariana Grande performed “Popular”, available on the Wicked 10th Anniversary Deluxe CD.
"Dancing With the Stars" returns next Monday on ABC, with the same eight couples vying for the prized mirror ball trophy. No elimination occurred this week, as there were technical issues on October 14. Incorrect phone numbers appeared during the East Coast's airing, which may have resulted in the casting of wrong votes, therefore all of the votes from last Monday were discarded, and this week’s scores and votes will carry over to next week.
