Shocking 2nd prayer death by parents leads to 3.5 years in prison (Video)

A 2nd prayer death since 2009 for a large family has lead to the sentencing of two adults, who are said to have allowed two of their children to unnecessarily die because medical attention was against their religion.

On Wednesday, a couple was sentenced to 3.5 to seven years in prison after they are said to have denied their 8 month child medical attention.

The child, named Brandon, was unable to see a doctor to treat his pneumonia. Instead, the parents believed that they could pray in place of seeking medical attention, a decision that eventually lead to the death of their child.

"You've killed two of your children ... not God, not your church, not religious devotion — you," Philadelphia Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner said, according to USA Today.

Sadly for this family, this is not the first time this has happened. In 2009, the same parents--Herbert and Catherine Schaible—were put on probation after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

The reason? Because they felt it went against their religious beliefs to bring their two-year-old son, Kent, to the doctor to treat his pneumonia.

He, too, died.

Therefore, after Brandon’s death, the 2nd prayer death for this family in just a few years, an understandably upset judge felt the parents violated their probation, which stipulated that if any of their other children (the parents have seven surviving children) required medical care, they were to adequately seek out a doctor.
