She was the young child actress who brought smiles to the faces of moviegoers during the depression era. Shirley Temple Black is certainly a household name and she will be remembered for her most memorable roles on the big screen.

The cause of her death is unknown at this point, as she reportedly passed away at her home in Woodside, California. The former child actress was 85 and she most likely enjoyed her last moments with family and friends by her side.

Winning her first miniature Academy Award at just age 6, she was perhaps the most successful child star of her time.

However, her story is unlike that of any other celebrity or child star as she decided at 21 that she would become more involved in political discussions, proving that an actress could use her voice for much more than a movie role or song lyric.

Shirley Temple Black will forever be remembered for her curly hair and charming performance in many of America's most popular classic films.
