Shir HaShirim analysis and commentary for Passover Part 1

She comes to you via a feeling that is a response to an internal unity that you have discovered or that has been revealed to you. Perhaps this unity is the result of an intense feeling of love or of an understanding that surpasses the normal addition of one plus one equals two. She is the divine presence and is always there residing within waiting for the perfect moment to show Herself to you. That perfect moment comes about when you are aware of the subtle change of state that takes place within your consciousness.

When you acknowledge Her She is more than ready to fill your life with Her meanings which always make the connection between you and the unity of which you are forever linked to. She is much accessible to you by design since it is through Her that you come to be connected to Hashem, the idea of deity, and the reality of 'the way things work.'

If you want to know Her discover Her mysteries then you would read the Song of Songs for inside of these sacred verses are the keys to mystery of connection and the way things work. From the opening verse until its conclusion what we find is rich in metaphor and with a little deeper awareness we can uncover the sense of what is going on here.

It is customary to recite Shir HaShirim during the Shabbat that occurs in between the beginning and end of Passover. Therefore our study begins.

Shir HaShirim 1:2. "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth, for your love is better than wine.

The love that is better than wine is the awareness that we have of Her. It is a sense of the feeling that only She may produce inside of you. It is a way recognizing this feeling. Our kisses mean that we must become intimate with this feeling so that we will always know it for what it was meant to be which is the source of our connection on high.

Shir HaShirim 1:3. Because of the fragrance of your goodly oils, your name is 'oil poured forth.' Therefore, the maidens loved you.

Every time we have that sense of connection, that feeling rising within us that seems to overflow this is the fragrance that is spoken of that produces those goodly oils that are poured forth. The maidens represent those feelings that we become one with.

Shir HaShirim 1:4. Draw me, we will run after you; the king brought me to his chambers. We will rejoice and be glad in you. We will recall your love more fragrant than wine; they have loved you sincerely.

'Draw me," meaning make me aware of this feeling of connection. I will make myself aware of Shekhinta so that I will arise into the King's chambers. When this feeling manifests itself it is for rejoicing for this is the connection. This connection is the love between Shekhinta and Qudsha Brikh Hu that produces the state of unity. Within consciousness this is the moment of bliss the peace that surpasses understanding and connection of love that is the goal of all prayers.

Shir HaShirim 1:5. I am black but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem! Like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.

She is hidden like what is inside the tents that cannot be seen or behind the curtain which veils the wisdom of Solomon.

Shir Hashirim 1:6. Do not look upon me [disdainfully] because I am swarthy, for the sun has gazed upon me; my mother's sons were incensed against me; they made me a keeper of the vineyards; my own vineyard I did not keep.

She is hidden deep within the soul. She is awareness herself that is masked by anger that is the ego's way of blocking the awareness of her.

Shir Hashirim 1:7. Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where do you feed, where do you rest [the flocks] at noon, for why should I be like one who veils herself beside the flocks of your companions?"

Shekhinta has but one purpose and that is for you to become aware of Her. She calls out here to ask why she who only wants your own higher connection to be one with Hashem should remain out of sight. In other words what thoughts are your companions? Why don't you seek holiness? And if you do why don't you seek Her because she is the key to holiness and its manifest connection.
