Cookies are great to make and send to family and friends as a gift. I have a couple of tricks you can use to ship your cookies and have them arrive safely to the recipient.
For your standard cookies (not particularly fragile ones), pack them into a gallon size zip top bag. Seal the bag. In 2-4 other zip top bags, the same or smaller in size, blow air into them and then seal in the air. Use these under, over and on the sides of your cookies. The bags filled with air will buffer the cookies as they are shipped.
To fill a bag with air:
Zip bag ¾ of the way closed or until about 2 inches of the bag is not sealed. . Bring bag to your mouth and blow air into bag. Quickly seal air inside the bag.
You can also ship bar cookies in metal baking pans. I would still wrap the pan in a zip top bag and add other bags around it for support.
It is a good idea to write “Fragile” on the outside of your box. Maybe it will be handles with more care.
You can always use packing peanuts all around your cookies. However, for me, I do not always have them handy. Now, zip top bags, I always have those in the cabinet.
