Shipment figures for the Yakuza series revealed

Sega today revealed several shipment figures regarding the games in the Yakuza series. 

In total, 4 million copies of the Yakuza games have shipped so far worldwide. The most shipped title in the series is the first game with more than a million copies (including the budgeted “Playstation the Best” re-release in Japan). The newest title, Yakuza 4, got a shipment of 500,000 copies to Japanese retailers when it launched last week.

The Yakuza series began on the Playstation 2 in late 2005. In addition to the four main titles, Sega also released a spin-off called Yakuza Kenzan on the Playstation 3. Although Yakuza 4 was just released in Japan last week, Sega has already hinted at another new addition to the series.
