With just one week left before the start of the college football season, BC has finally named its starting quarterback.
When the Eagles take the field next Saturday, sophomore gunslinger Dave Shinskie will be lining up under center, the school announced Friday afternoon.
After starting camp with a wide-open battle for the starting spot, Coach Spaziani has entrusted the Eagles offense to Shinskie for a second year in a row.
Shinskie had some tough competition throughout camp and it looks like his performance over the past few weeks could be a sign of things to come this season.
Sophomore Mike Marscovetra was Shinskie’s main competition and put up some great numbers, showing great accuracy and arm strength throughout camp.
It seems that Shinskie’s experience and big arm eventually won him the job even with the likes of Marscovetra and freshman phenom Chase Rettig on his coattails.
The only question now becomes whether Uncle Dave has learned anything from his up and down play last season.
If Shinskie can prove more consistent and accurate, especially in the red zone, then BC could definitely earn a spot in the ACC championship game.
