It’s been over 10 years since Shinedown hit the scene, selling more than 10 million albums worldwide. In 2012 Shinedown released “Amaryllis” which debuted at number four on the Billboard 200. In an interview on Jan. 12, Brent let the fans know that this last year was about more than a new album and tour. Twitter followers of Brent Smith, and girlfriend Teresa get a (almost) daily dose of positive messages, clean eating photos, and puppy love. The couple own a Cane Corso, Ty, and an American Bulldog, Belle.
Behind that motivation and clean eating is a man who spent many years battling drug and alcohol addiction. At 222 pounds, Brent had become obese, and after being insulted on national television, he knew he had to make some changes. With the help of Teresa, and the love from his four year-old son, Lyric, Brent was able to sober up, lose the weight, and open a new chapter in his life.
Teresa said “listen to me, I love you and I’m not going anywhere, but this lifestyle that you’re leading is not going to work.”
The pair started training together and eventually, Brent got the rest of the band involved. On tour, they do the Insanity workout. Smith, now 70 pounds lighter, looks forward to his training. The training has helped him to look different on stage; it even gives him more power behind his voice. Health is a big part of who he is now and his fans have never been happier.
Shinedown will be in Saginaw, Mich. Tuesday February 12 and the Dow Event Center.
