Shia LaBeouf has revealed that he has used illegal hallucinogenic drugs in order to help him prepare for his film role in "The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman" according to Showbiz Spy reports on Wed. Jan. 23.
LaBeouf, 26, portrays character Charlie Countryman in the film, a man who gets caught up with a criminal gang, while trying to win the love of his life Gabi Banyai, who is played by actress Evan Rachel Wood.
During the film, Shia LaBeouf's character Charlie is so high on acid, that LaBeouf was concerned he wouldn't accurately portray the part that he reveals that he did take the drugs to get a better feel for how his character was feeling during those scenes.
“Just ’cause I’m scared. I’ve never done acid before,” he said.
“I remember sending Evan tapes … trying to conjure this and sending tapes and Evan being like, ‘Yeah, that’s good, but that’s not, but this is, but that ain’t.
“Not like she’s the expert on set. I’m just saying you reach out to friends and you sort of gauge where you’re at. So I was sending tapes around. I’d get 50 per cents from people, and that starts creeping me out, and I got really nervous. Towards the end, I was like OK…
“It’s not because I’m wanting to be on drugs. I’m not trying to mess with the set or anything like that. It’s really just fear that propels people … You don’t show up wasted. You don’t show up completely tripping on acid. But you’re rooting for something and you’re pushing yourself toward it. Everyone’s got their own way.”
What do you think about Shia LaBeouf's drug use,do you believe that actors today take their film roles too far trying to become the characters, losing excessive weight, drug use and more, to bring their movie characters to life?
