According to the Canadian Olympic Committee website on Wednesday, Canadian Olympic gold medalists Cindy Klassen of Winnipeg and Kyle Shewfelt of Calgary lead a list of prestigious people who will be inducted into the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame on June 6 in a gala ceremony in Calgary.

Klassen won a gold medal for Canada in the women's 1500m speed skating event at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Turin. It was one of six medals she would win in her Olympic career, including an amazing five in Turin. Klassen is the only Canadian to win five medals at one Olympic Games.

Shewfelt won a gold medal for Canada in the men's gymnastics floor competition at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He is the only Canadian to win a medal in a traditional gymnastics event at an Olympic Games. Canadians have won six medals in trampoline, which joined the Olympic program at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.

Other inductees will be the Canadian men's eights rowing team that won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Canadian speed skating coach Marcel Lacroix, former Alberta premier Ralph Klein who was part of Calgary's successful bid for the 1988 Olympic Winter Games, Canadian Olympic men's hockey head coach Pat Quinn, and Canadian sports journalist Richard Garneau.
