Sherwin-Williams Colormix 2013 Forecast-The Honed Vitality palette (Photos)

We hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and that as you look forward to the New Year that you have a many exciting things in the works for 2013.

The holidays sidetracked us a little bit so we will get back in track by continuing on with our 2013 Sherwin Williams Color Forecast review.

As stated in the previous Sherwin Williams Colormix Forecast article...we as people, are ever evolving. We seek new and improved forms of living as much as we hold to the comfort and certainty of the past and each of the Sherwin Williams 2013 color palettes emphasizes this in its own way as they all fall under the theme “Opposites Attract.” They confidently state that “It’s no longer a process of elimination. It’s a process of combination.” Sherwin Williams has put “today’s color mood under a microscope to reveal its dueling influences.” Where “simple vs. the complex...mystery vs. certainty...light vs. dark” Where even “synthetic vs. natural.”

We have covered the moody and dramatic Midnight Mystery palette, so now we move on to Honed Vitality.

The Honed Vitality palette takes its inspiration from the textures of nature and from our own handiwork. It is as much about our interaction with the environment as it is with its appearance.

The earth is full of many bounties, materials and gems. The texture of the earth is as varied as the sands of the desserts, or its sandy beaches...to majestic rock formations formed by layer upon layers of various mineral deposits, precious metals even crystallized quartz.

Collectively we are becoming aware of the importance of our natural resources and the benefits of keeping our earth in its healthy natural state. Symbolically the earth has always represented vitality, health and even the very wealth which we have extracted from it in the forms of gold, silver, precious jewels and more.

The earth and its importance in our life is monumental. The green movement continues as more and more individuals find ways to use our natural resources wisely. We realize this earth is the foundation for every need, from our food to our shelter....housing the very primal needs of our existence.

This palette is driven by our mother earth as well as the science we use to discover and uncover its many possibilities. It is equally inspired by eco-friendly choices such as all natural packaging for shipping and even fashion made from bacterial cultures of sweet green tea that can be retired to a compost heap when the wearer is finished with it. Raw and organic materials are the main drivers for this color scheme.

Homemaking has not always been in vogue but of late has reached new levels of acclaim through many popular blogs and social sites such as pinterest. Where the homemaker was once scrutinized, she is now idealized. Homemaking which was once seen as old fashioned has become a valuable skill.

Many folks are going back to the basic of eating healthy foods prepared from scratch. Baking, grains herbs and spices are also inspiration for the Honed Vitality palette.

This is a fast paced world we live in and we all have the need to unwind from our busy lives. For many of us the earth provides more than just timeless beauty as it captures the peace and tranquility we so often desire and require. When nearly everything relies on technology, the need to interact with the world is much more necessary and tactile than before.

With the surge of handmade items even ordinary objects are taking on new textures and personality that we have not seen before. There are many artisans whose work is revealing the beauty of natural materials in simple ways that we may have long since forgotten.

This colormix palette makes a focus on textures from the trending quest to find items that help us uncover our historical roots, such as antiques, old vintage discoveries to drawing from the simplicity of the rustic farmhouse.

We are drawn to art and photography that showcases the color variations of the earth and the stillness that is captured when it is frozen in time in print.

In the world of decor we see sulfur oxidation on mirrors, rustic patina on wood and metals…the intriguing color shift that always goes along with age and time.

This palette is tranquil, unpretentious, even a bit rumpled at times. It is all about the sensory through textures; the sense combine as we touch, feel and see.

The colors are muted, chalky, earthy and neutralized. Soft grays, faded watery blue, and muted sky, a dusty green, muted golds and terracotta's make up this collection.

So there you have it, a taste of Sherwin Williams 2013 Colormix palette Honed Vitality. We invite you to check out our pinterest board where you can get a broader perspective of what we feel reflects these inspired color choices.
