Canyon County authorities are seeking information about a stray dog that was found in a field. The female dog, now known as Winnie, was brought into the Canyon County Animal Shelter by animal control last Friday. The 3- to 5-year-old purebred Akita was covered in blood. When the dog was examined by veterinary staff, it was determined that she had been shot once in the face and once in the chest. Winnie is expected to make a full recovery, and will be seeking a new home after she recovers. The Canyon County Animal Shelter is asking for donations to help cover Winnie’s medical care. Individuals who would like to donate can send checks to: Winnie, Canyon County Animal Shelter, 5801 Graye Lane, Caldwell ID 83607, or call 455-5520, or e-mail the shelter at info@canyoncountyshelter.org. There is also a Pay Pal link on the website for donations. Anyone with information about the shooting can contact the Canyon County Sherriff Department.
