There is a big shake-up in daytime talk ahead for this fall, as both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are out of “The View.” While many were expecting someone to go before the new season started this fall, most are admitting shock that both ladies were let go at the same time. People shared the details on Friday.

Both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are out as the show aims to move in a new direction, per the official line from ABC. Sources for People indicate that a new deal between Shepherd's rep and the show couldn't be reached, whereas McCarthy's departure is tied to the “new direction” approach. Though the spin may indicate otherwise, it seems that the network and the show felt letting both women go was the right way to move forward.

Shepherd's departure was the first to hit the Internet Thursday night, but TMZ was the first to spread the news that McCarthy was on her way out too. In fact, the site indicates that executive producer Bill Geddie is also gone. Barbara Walters retired this spring, leaving Whoopi Goldberg as the sole member holding down the fort for the moment.

Despite cleaning house, the show will go on, it seems. Who will join Whoopi in the new season this fall? There is surely a long list of potential candidates, and it has been said that the show may be considering bringing some men on-board for permanent seats. TMZ reports that names such as Laila Ali, Ross Mathews and Jesse Palmer have been tossed around. Supposedly Rosie O'Donnell could even reclaim a seat at the table.

Rumors of McCarthy's potential firing have been swirling since essentially the day she started. Many would say she's never been a good fit, and the show's fans for the most part have not taken to her as the show would have hoped. Shepherd has garnered mixed reviews as well throughout her time there. Given the upheaval in her personal life these days, it may be a good time for Sherri to shift gears anyway.

Who will be the faces of “The View” this fall? Viewers will be interested to see what falls in to place. Are you surprised that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are out of “The View” in one swift move?
