‘No gleaming mother-lode of gold,
No animal, no mineral, no exotic tropical isle
No sunrise or moon shimmer
No sacred sonnet or symphony
As beautiful, in this wandering world,
As a beautiful woman.’
~Woman & Muse – JR Phillips

'Like the music of
some rare stone, her words
expressed an inner

shape that she could not
conceal, her art was
so compact of innocence.'

~ Dialogue - Sumio Matsuda

‘...her laughter is a kite hanging over the waves

her sad eyed beauty the wind

the sun a corsage for the universe...’

~Rising - David McIntire

‘...she spit in the face of demons that I ran from I kissed

the mouths of the angels that cloaked her...’

~Nights With Eli - A. Razor

‘we held hands

lay still in a beam of time

we comforted each other

slid the world from each other’s shoulders.

You can't bury that.’

~God Dug A Shallow Grave in My Heart - Hart D. Fisher

Edgar & Lenore’s Publishing House released an Amazon best seller last March with In the Company of Women, which soared to #1 in women’s anthologies within 24 hours of release. Now with a targeted focus on the male perspective, Men in the Company of Women: A provocative Anthology of Praise & Persuasion is available coming January 30th!

'Men in the Company of Women is a surprisingly, candid, honest and cutting edge collective of contemporary literature. Each passage an open door, allowing readers a rare glimpse into the psyche of the male gender and the impact of women upon it relayed with cinematic vision etched upon the pages.

In often voyeuristic articulation, this compilation of poetry, short stories & memoir present rare perspectives shared by over 100 brilliant male writers.

From wicked to wise, this tome reaches daring new vistas of insight and intrigue; a full spectrum anthology certain to leave a searing imprint of unique viewpoints, never to be forgotten.'

The beautiful cover of this fine collection highlights the artistic vision of painter and contributor Carlos Scalise. With a blend of voices from around the globe this collective also includes many of the most prominent voices in the LA writing scene including: A Razor - Punk Hostage Press, Angel Uriel Perales – Feral Fusion, Ben Trigg, Bill Friday, Brian Heffron, Carlos Scalise, Chris J. Miller – Razorwire Pictures, David McIntire – Poetry Stew, Don Kingfisher Campbell - Saturday Afternoon Poetry, E.R. Sanchez, Frank Mundo, Hart D. Fisher – American Horrors, Herb Schmidt, Jack Cooper, James Berkowitz, Jason Brain – Soapbox Sessions, Jayson Pida, Jerry Garcia, Joey Alkes, JR Phillips – Valley Poets East, Kris Huelgas, Mel Green, Michael Rothenberg – 100,000 Poets For Change, Radomir Vojtech Luza – NoHo: Unbuckled Poetry, Ramshackle Tim, Rick Lupert – Poetry Super Highway, Scott Miller, Steven Gadberry, Sumio Matsuda, Wyatt Underwood.

‘From the beginning of recorded time, the relationship between the male and female has been one of dynamic heartfire. Whether platonic or romantic, through shared DNA or otherwise, the male/female co-existence is without a doubt, a cosmic phenomenon of simplistic natural instinct and sublime perplexity; a true conundrum.

This collection of literature is so diverse in content a certain degree of laudatory contemplation and subjectivism is required for true appreciation. How would one toss the opinion of all men from across the globe; of all social divisions, cultures, religions, backgrounds and creeds into a cauldron, mix it up and come out with a hybrid of understanding that could remotely explain women in a true and effective light? That is a monumental task, indeed.’ ~From the Preface by Apryl Skies

"... all in all, the magnitude of what these men, in their musing, writings, anecdotes and yes, their confessions, have shared in this collection of work is astounding. Within these pages is a lesson; that if men and women are ever to reach a true understanding so often deplorably unattainable, and one that should have been obvious to the feminine gender all along, when it comes to matters of the heart, there is really very little difference between the sexes; we all bleed red". ~From the Foreword by Alicia Winski

Overall, this book is a medley of humor, passion and complex emotion which reflects the essence of what life often is for men in the company of women. While many writers within this collective embrace the beauty of and allure of women, others express the mystery of the feminine gender with comedy or outright perplexity. Filmmakers Hart D. Fisher, Chris Miller & Jerry Garcia use cutting-edge grit to bring deep shadows of cinematic vision or musicality to the pages. LA Author David McIntire speaks with rich metaphor and absolute sensitivity in poems such as Rising and Softly and Loudly She Cries. Other writers such as Ramshackle Tim use satire adding an element of laughter to the mix. Dialogue by Sumio Matsuda was found and submitted posthumously by the author's son Robert and could very well be one of the most touching poems of this collection. In addition, Authors Wyatt Underwood with Requiem and Radomir Vojtech Luza inspired by Sylvia Plath lend a bittersweet feast of words for readers.

There is a little for everyone in this 400 page anthology. Men will appreciate it for the honesty and will find familiarity in the content. Women will love it for the candid perspective and the provoking revelations brought to light.

Readers should be forewarned however, while some of the content is of a softer language and theme, this book is anything but tame. Many subjects within the collective are served raw, with literature which depicts some difficult and edgy topics such as mutual domestic violence, drugs, suicide and provocative sexual situations, coming full circle to reveal all the secrets of Men in the Company of Women: A Provocative Anthology of Praise and Persuasion.
